There is an incredible amount of energy in nature. Landscapes or what I call a “Scape” is like a river filled with structures, forms and colors that blend into emotions and sit in our minds like bookmarks. Each image is waiting for that gentle nudge to send its shapes across the surfaces that makes up our memories. Our imagination is fired by these instances and I try to capture them on my canvas. The seduction of rhythm and texture is at the heart of these creations. They touch on a reality we want to know and one we think we’ve seen. Sometimes these works are completed in one day in a rush of energy. But always, the imagery sits in my mind for weeks and only comes out in layers of memory. Within each layer some shape or form reminds me of a point in time from a train trip or an adventure along a highway.
